WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
Jacksonville, Florida

WHEN & WHY DID YOU JOIN BEC?
I accepted a role at BEC in April 2024. After hearing the enthusiasm from the team members and the executive team’s vision for the firm, I was excited for this opportunity.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR CAREER?
You could call me a late bloomer. I began my professional career in management and sales with The Sherwin-Williams Co. It’s here I discovered my passion for working closely with clients and helping to build their business while solidifying a long-lasting professional relationship. It’s also here where I developed my understanding and enthusiasm for strong financial statements. Being in charge of self and team, as it came to quarterly and annual results, I was attune to how different aspects of the statements correlated and explained the happenings of my business.

As fate would have it, my wife was assigned orders to Okinawa, JA in 2017. With the move coming and my role not translating with the geographic change, I was seeking a career I could develop while absent from the States. I decided to pursue a career in accounting and tax, beginning with the Master of Accounting program at UNC. Following graduation in 2019, I immediately held roles in tax preparation and non-profit accounting. More recently I was a senior accountant at Optimum Healthcare IT before taking my abilities to BEC as a senior tax accountant in April 2024.

WHAT ARE YOUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE/PASSIONS?
I have a strong understanding of accounting and tax practice and how they apply to small businesses. Furthermore, my passions lie in personal finance and behavioral economics which allow me to approach situations and answer the questions “why?” and “how?”. Lastly, I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to improve myself and I take advantage of educational opportunities whenever I'm able which allows me to also answer the question of “what do we do now?”.

FUN FACT
I run more than people know. From 5ks to marathons, running from point A to point B has always provided me with a thrill or sense of relief after a long day. And the gear is awesome. There isn't much better than that new shoe smell.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR JOB
I get to put together (number) puzzles non-stop while working with a team dedicated to their roles and living their best lives.
